Debutant India pacer Akash Deep made a big impression as he sent England opener Zak Crawley’s stumps cartwheeling on day 1 of the 4th England vs India Test in Ranchi on Friday.
Akash Deep’s ripper swung in late and left Crawley stunned, but celebrations were cut short for the debutante as Akash Deep ha overstepped the line resulting in the dreaded no-ball siren going off.
Akash Deep pressed on and then sent back Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope packing in the same over.
A few overs later, Akash Deep got his man and dismissing Crawley in a similar manner, as he hit the top of the stumps, sending the bails flying, while keeping his feet firmly behind the bowling crease.
Akash Deep made his debut for India after the team management decided to rest Jasprit Bumrah due to a ‘workload issue’.
Bumrah, who has been India’s leading wicket-taker in the series, sat out of the game, paving the way for the talented Akash Deep to earn his maiden Test cap.
In the fourth England vs India test match being held in Ranchi, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first against Rohit Sharma-led India. Sharma said India would’ve liked to bat first on the pitch as well.
Akash Deep’s drama-filled debut has proved that bowling first wasn’t a bad deal either, as England lost four quick wickets.
India overcame a shock loss in Hyderabad in the ongoing England vs India test match series, with two massive victories in Vizag and Rajkot to take a 2-1 series lead in the five match series. A win in Ranchi will see them clinch the series and take an unassailable 3-1 lead.
