It would help if you got an LED signboard for your business. These versatile screens effortlessly attract attention, are energy efficient, and are a better investment over time than printing signs, posters, and flyers.
LED signage can advertise your products, display your schedule, or announce a special sale. But for it to be effective, you need eye-catching designs. Check out these LED signage design tips.
Pay attention to the characteristics of your screen:
Examine the LED screen you’ll use. Make sure you consider its characteristics as you create your design. For example, if your LED signage has a monochrome display, save time creating a complex, colourful design, as it won’t show it properly.
Your design should match the size and pixel resolution of your sign. It would help if you also decided whether your sign would be placed horizontally or vertically so you can use the correct design ratio. A design created for a horizontal screen will not look good if you display it on a vertical screen.
Keep in mind that less is more:
Signs should have a clear purpose. But no matter which message you want to share, keep it to the point. Only add a few words or images to your signage. If people feel overwhelmed and confused when they see your sign, they won’t care about what it’s trying to say. They will ignore it.
So, to avoid cluttering your sign, add up to three lines of text and only use the essential design elements. Remember that less is more and simplicity will make your design more appealing.
Choose a limited colour palette:
While designing a colourful sign is great, do only what’s essential. Adding too many colours to your LED signage is another way to overload it.
Once again, remember that less is more. Choose a limited colour palette, ideally featuring no more than two or three colours. Consider using bold, contrasting colours like black and white, blue and orange, or yellow and purple. Contrasting colours will make your signage more dynamic and more likely to catch the eye of your customers for the right reasons.
Use only high-quality images:
Whether you want to include photos or graphics in your design, ensure they are high-quality images. They should not appear blurry, pixelated, or stretched, and their colours should not be off-putting. You want your sign to look like a professional designer created it so your customers will take it and your brand seriously.
Of course, the images you use should be relevant to the message you want your LED signage to convey. For example, if you advertise stylish shoes, don’t display a photo of a beautiful landscape. Just showcase the shoes.
Place the most important information in the middle:
Place the most important information in the middle of effective signage. Avoid placing important elements near your design edges. They might get cut off, especially if you plan on displaying your signage on more than one LED signboard.
Make sure the message you display is easy to read:
Your sign has to be easy to read. If people need help figuring out what it’s trying to say, you might not have signage. First, choose a font that can be easily read, even from a distance. Don’t choose a cursive font, as it might not display well on your LED sign.
Next, remember what we said about contrasting colours. Your text must contrast nicely with the background. For example, displaying pale yellow text on a white background is not a good idea. Finally, leave enough space between your text and your images. If all your design elements look cramped, your message will be easier to read.
Don’t add too many animated elements:
Our last design tip is to avoid adding too many animated elements to your sign. A bit of movement will catch your customers’ eye. On the other hand, only a few elements that quickly move around the screen will confuse everyone. So, if you want to animate parts of your design, do it. But do it in moderation.
