Buying the right gaming laptop is very important if you want to enjoy your online gaming experience to the fullest. It will directly impact what games you’ll be able to play and how smoothly they will run. You also don’t want to buy a laptop and have to upgrade after a few months.
The only issue with buying a gaming laptop is that specs can be all over the place and knowing if you’re getting a good deal can be difficult. Not only could you end up overpaying, but you could also buy a laptop that is underperforming in crucial areas and overpowered in others. Let’s take a look at some of the things you should look for in a gaming laptop.
Consider Your Type of Gaming First
Before you start looking at specs, you need to have an idea of what type of games you want to play on your laptop. Someone who wants to play high-resolution racing games at a high frame rate will need different specs than someone who wants to play at a real money casino online, so this is something you’ll need to assess.
Racing games demand both a powerful CPU and GPU, but not all games do. Most games, including very demanding FPS games, will usually not require that you have a top-of-the-line GPU. So don’t assume that you have to buy the most powerful CPU on the market unless you want to do things outside of gaming that would require it.
The Graphics Card
Most people would consider the graphics card to be the most important part of a gaming laptop. While you need a CPU to run the unit, a laptop with a basic CPU with a great graphic card will usually offer better results than a machine with a top-of-the-line CPU and a bad graphics card.
Most laptops you’re going to see on the market will either have an Nvidia or AMD graphic card, but the wide majority of gaming laptops out there are equipped with either Nvidia Geforce GTX or RTX GPU.
If you want something decent that won’t cost much, go for something with a GTX 3050 or 3050 Ti card or higher. If you have the money for it, any RTX card will do, just be careful to not overspend there since these are their latest cards and even the smallest ones will handle most games comfortably.
CPU
When it comes to CPUs, you shouldn’t have to worry too much. If a machine has a decent graphics card, then it will usually have a good CPU to support it.
As we mentioned earlier, most games can run on a basic CPU, but you could go with a four-core or six-core chip just to make sure. It should also have a clock speed of at least 3.5ghz to 4ghz.
RAM
RAM is the last important spec you need to look at. RAM will directly impact how fast things like backgrounds and textures load and the over smoothness of the gameplay. Go for something with at least 32GB here to be comfortable. You can also go for something much bigger as it won’t cost you much.
These are the principal things you need to look at when buying a gaming laptop. Do your research on various machines and components before you start shopping and don’t fall for marketing tricks if you want to get the best deal possible.
