Converting video is not as complicated a task as editing videos, but I know quite a few people who would have been put off doing it because of the myth that you need a complicated video editor. The Convert tab, as the name suggests, helps you convert videos from one format into another. You can upload files from various sources including your hard disk or an optical disk with the ‘Add Files’ button. You can also load an entire folder in case you wish to do so.
It takes a while to list the added videos depending on your selections, but the process is pretty fast. The different options that allow you to change and edit the output file include editing metadata, embedding subtitles. One bonus feature of Wondershare Video Converter is the ability to edit 360-degree videos.
Multiple Formats and Video Editing Supported
Wondershare’s video converter includes support for a wide range of formats including MKV, MP4, AVI, WMV, WEBM, MPG, 3GP, and FLV among others. There are many convenient presets for various devices and gaming consoles to help you get compatible output files. You can easily convert multiple video files at a time and even merge them into a single file, a feat only video editors are successfully capable of.
Speedier Conversions
Conversion times are the boon or the bane of video converters. But Wondershare’s video converter supports hardware acceleration if your machine has an external graphics card, significantly improving the conversion time. However, one point of concern is that the speedier conversion option is only available to a few output formats. You can access a history of downloaded files on the top bar by clicking on the Finished button. In addition to this, you can enable High Speed Downloads which use multiple streams to download videos at 3X the speed as claimed by Wondershare. You can also schedule different tasks like Shutdown, Sleep or Exit Program when the downloads have finished.
On the top left of the window is a switch called ‘Download then Convert Mode’. This mode allows you to automtically schedule a conversion as soon as the download has completed, saving precious time.
Transfer Files Directly To Your Device
If burning your media files to optical discs was not enough, now you can use Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate to transfer output files from your computer directly to supported devices like the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch among Apple devices, and any Android device with version 2.2 and higher. To make things simpler, camcorders, flash disks and removable hard drives are also supported.
The Toolbox tab contains options to fix the metadata of your media files, cast them to a nearby TV on the same network by acting as a media server and streaming videos directly to the device, and the ability to convert videos to a VR-compatible format – something that, in my opinion, sets this nifty software apart from the rest of the tools available online.
